New Contemporary Romance Book – Breakfast in Bed by Robin Kaye

Breakfast in Bed by Robin KayeRobin Kaye has written an engaging story of an independent woman who meets the man of her nightmares – and she can’t escape him. In Breakfast in Bed, Becca Larsen is an up-and-coming sculptor who has sublet an apartment from her best friend. Rick Ronaldi has sublet an apartment from his sister. Unfortunately, they have both sublet the same apartment and, the problem being, the two of them don’t like each other very much. In fact, Becca thinks Rick is a dumb jock and he thinks she is an ice princess.

Even though they both dislike each other, sparks still fly when Becca takes the first tour of her apartment and finds Rick in the shower, and you see hints of the beginning of an attraction for each other. However, a quickie affair is on no one’s agenda, Rick has a girlfriend, and Becca says she has no interest in him (but there is quite a bit of lust after a full frontal view in the shower). But, when Rick’s girlfriend dumps him due to his lack of domestic skills, Becca is suddenly one of Rick’s best friends, surely she can’t move out now – he needs her! Can she turn him into a domestic god, help him get his girlfriend back, and solidify his job prospects at the university? He sure hopes so . . .

Opening Rick up to the wonderful world of cooking and cleaning opens him up to feelings for Becca that surprise them both. And, of course, since they are young and healthy, those feelings eventually lead them to the bedroom and to some great sex scenes. This guy really knows what he is doing in the sack, she is enraptured, and he end up seriously falling for her – but she is unsure of him, why can’t they just have fun? After all, this is how her mother treated all her many men – just casual partners – why shouldn’t Becca?

This story gives you insight into a guy’s outlook when he can’t get the girl he wants and needs. If you’ve read many romances, you know that we often see a situation only from a woman’s point of view, but in Breakfast in Bed, Robin Kaye does a great job of telling both sides of the story – illustrating how we all often only see things from our perspective – when it’s both sides of the story that make for a lasting, successful relationship.
