I love a good, romantic story and the latest book, One Fine Cowboy by Joanne Kennedy, is just that. It is obvious from the beginning that the independent female lead, Charlie Banks, will not be able to stop herself from falling for Nate Shawcross, cowboy super-hero and horse whisperer. The same rings true for Nate who knew this city woman with the high heeled cowboy boots and mascara lined eyes was going to be nothing but trouble – so why could he not stop wondering what she was wearing under her city slicker clothes? One Fine Cowboy is the sort of book where the romance is obvious early in the story, but you cannot stop reading.
Charlie Banks has come to Wyoming to continue her studies in psychology by learning the mechanics of horse whispering. The problem begins when the person she is supposed to be studying, Nate, knows nothing about it. It turns out that Nate’s ex-wife Sandi set up a clinic for people like Charlie to learn about horse whispering but forgot to tell Nate before she ran off with all of their money. He does not like strangers intruding into his world and he’s determined to get rid of them. Likewise, Charlie is trapped in his stupid cowboy universe because her car has broken down in the middle of Wyoming and she has no money to return to New York. As Nate and Charlie begin to know each other, their attraction becomes more than they can bear and the story is really smoking by then.
The sexual tension between these two polar opposites is electric, they are both damaged souls with secrets and finding love and healing together is both interesting and intoxicating. The plot is refreshingly solid and the cowboy element gives the story an immediate sexy feel all romance readers will love – thus making One Fine Cowboy into one fine romance!
